List of topics in a channel
You can view a list of recent topics any channel. Itâs a great way to get an overview if you like reading your messages one channel at a time.
Use the list of topics in a subscribed channel
Section titled âUse the list of topics in a subscribed channelâ- Hover over a channel in the left sidebar.
- Click on the ellipsis ().
- Click Go to list of topics. If you do not see this option, Zulip is configured so that clicking on the channel name in the left sidebar will take you directly to the list of topics.
- Click on a conversation youâre interested in to view it. You can return to the list of topics when done (e.g., by using the back button in your browser or desktop app) to select the next conversation.
- Tap the channels () tab at the bottom of the app.
- Select a channel.
- Tap topics () in the upper right corner of the app.
- Tap on a conversation youâre interested in to view it. You can return to the list of topics when done (e.g., by using the back button) to select the next conversation.
Configure where channel links in the left sidebar go
Section titled âConfigure where channel links in the left sidebar goâYou can configure whether channel links in the left sidebar go to the channel feed, a list of topics in the channel, the top topic, or the top unread topic.
- Go to Preferences.
- Under Navigation, select your preferred option from the Clicking on a channel in the left sidebar navigates to dropdown.
Filter conversations

Section titled âFilter by topic statusâIn the web app, you can control whether the list of topics includes all topics, just topics you havenât muted, or only topics you follow.
- In the list of topics for a channel, select All topics, Standard view, or Followed topics from the dropdown in the upper left.
In muted channels, the Standard view includes all topics you havenât explicitly muted.
Filter by keyword
Section titled âFilter by keywordâ- In the list of topics for a channel, use the Filter box at the top to find a conversation.
